CultArm3D digitiser in a museum collection space

Our solutions for museums

Tripont’s heritage preservation team offers museums numerous devices and services across the different areas of digitisation.

360°

A digitisation solution, from assessment to archive

Tripont offers comprehensive digitisation solutions for museums: not only the equipment, but also training, the workflow and the archive system.

  1. 01

    Expert services

After a needs assessment, we review the technology currently used by our clients, and together we work out the most suitable strategy for the developments required.

  2. 02

    Equipment installation

Once it has been decided, together with our experts, which equipment to install, our team puts it into operation. This is followed by training, in which the institution’s staff learn to use the equipment correctly.

  3. 03

    Workflow design

After the equipment has been installed, we set up the workflow and software environment in which the work proceeds most efficiently. We automate repetitive tasks.

  4. 04

    Archive system

With our own archive system we can display even the largest image files, videos and text files. Digitisation and publication can therefore proceed in parallel.

CultArm3D robotic arm during digitisation

Automated 3D digitisation

CultArm3D

CultArm3D is an automated 3D digitisation system: a robotic arm developed by Fraunhofer IGD captures objects by photogrammetry with a Phase One camera. It has a modular design: the desktop and standing versions can be customised with additional modules so that every object can be digitised as efficiently as possible.

It offers intelligent view planning for any object, with physically accurate surface colour reproduction for almost any material. The result can be exported as a 3D model that is ready to use immediately, without manual post-processing.

  • Automated workflow

Smart scanning wizard, no manual processing.

  • Consistent quality

    Geometry verification, ISO-standard textures.

  • Accurate colours

    Calibration wizard, true-to-life surfaces.

  • Flexibility

Wide size range, adaptive view settings.

  • Modularity

Ready-made configurations, a wide range of accessories.

  • User-friendly

Intuitive interface, 3D models ready to use immediately.

Digitising with a Phase One iXH camera

Artwork reproduction

Phase One iXH

Designed around a 151-megapixel CMOS sensor, the iXH 150 MP camera digitises flat objects up to A0 size in a single shot at 300 ppi. Thanks to BSI (Back Side Illumination) technology it works with a dynamic range of 15 stops, so every tiny detail of the subject can be captured with unparalleled detail and colour fidelity.

Alongside the RGB model made for general use, there are Achromatic (monochrome) and WS (wide spectrum) versions; the system is also available in a 250-megapixel version.

Multispectral capture with the Rainbow MSI software

Multispectral imaging

Phase One Rainbow MSI

Phase One’s multispectral system was designed for artistic, cultural and scientific applications, in particular for revealing hidden details of artworks and documents. It combines high-resolution medium-format camera technology with multispectral imaging, so it also captures in the infrared and ultraviolet ranges.

The Rainbow MSI Solution software controls every component of the system and fully automates the process, so using it does not require lengthy preparation or training.

The software

  • Integrated analysis module for viewing results instantly
  • Principal component analysis (PCA), independent component analysis (ICA) and clustering (K-Means)
  • Spectral readout tool: an instant overview of the spectral composition of a pixel across the narrowband layers
WideTEK 60ART fine art scanner

Fine art scanner

WideTEK ART

In WideTEK ART scanners the artwork travels on a moving table beneath the cameras, so nothing touches its surface. Paintings, drawings, watercolours and collages can be digitised with or without a frame, up to 1,524 × 2,032 mm.

The patented 3D scanning mode brings out the relief of the brushstrokes and the paint layer; UV- and IR-free LED lighting is gentle on the artwork.

ScanRobot® 2.0 MDS

The Austrian company Treventus was founded by engineering students in 2006; today it plays a leading role in the mass book digitisation market. Alongside automatic book scanners, its range also includes workflow and digital archive solutions.

The ScanRobot® scans with patented prism technology, so books do not have to be forced open, and no glass pressure plate is needed.
