Heritage
Everything humankind has created.
In cooperation with Treventus, Tripont has made the Heritage archive service available in Hungary: storage, access and searchability of large digitised holdings, all in one place.
An electronic library, archive and publication system, also suited to managing, displaying, researching, sharing and publishing confidential and public documents, books, images and other multimedia files.

Challenge
Why do you need an archive after digitisation?
- 01
Large datasets
Mass digitisation began at cultural institutions in the 2010s, and huge volumes of data built up. There was no infrastructure for online access, so the material was often left sitting on a drive.
- 02
Limited options
Institutions’ development of their own archive systems often stalled for lack of funding, or produced only a compromise solution; the software behind them frequently could not cope with the demands of modern digitisation.
- 03
Tripont’s solution
Building on this experience, we worked with our Austrian partner to develop a scalable, turnkey archive service that takes the load off institutions’ infrastructure.
Archive service
How it works
Scalable
Flexible licences: a smaller system can be built at low cost, while robust, high capacity is also available for larger institutions. Installed on site (on-premises) or as a service (SaaS).
Integrated workflow
Add-on software connects it directly to the digitisation equipment, so file handling takes less time and users manage the holdings directly on the platform.
Flexible storage
For institutions with limited IT infrastructure, cloud-based storage with lower start-up costs; with your own server, a fully closed local system is also possible, for the highest security requirements.

Features
What Heritage can do
Intelligent search
Search full text, metadata and collections from a single field.
- custom search rules
- advanced filtering, quick results preview
- pivot visual preview
- many sort options
- 500 ms server access time
AI-based image search
Using an uploaded image – even a photo taken with a mobile phone – it searches the entire holdings for similar images or exact copies, and ranks the results by similarity.
- from any image file
- no external plug-in needed
- can be narrowed down with metadata
Personal collection, OCR clipping
Text passages can be clipped from the relevant volumes and saved to PDF with a single click.
- bookmarking of volumes and pages
- creating your own volumes, PDF export
- community metadata tagging
- quick sharing via permalink
- live OCR
Gigapixel images, video, audio, 3D
The image server loads even the highest-resolution images at lightning speed. An optional video and audio player with metadata and audio-based search; an integrated 3D interface for examining digitised objects.
Permissions and Open Access
You can set who has access to what, and whether they may download or edit metadata; user groups. Alongside a closed archive, selected documents can also be published as Open Access.
Open-source foundations
MySQL, Apache, IIPImage, Solr, Drupal: open-source code is continuously reviewed by the developer community, and the system remains operational and extensible even if the software vendor ceases to exist.

ScanGate®
Three outputs from digitisation
The ScanGate® software automates the workflow and produces three versions from the same capture.
Archiving
The version closest to the original, preserving its characteristics.
Presentation
The best legibility for any presentation.
Reprint
The best settings for printing and print production.
Republishing
For publishers
Old books can be a source of revenue: out-of-print copies are sought after on the market, and the online readership can be grown too. With an automatic book scanner we produce print-ready material again – and deliver it as PDF for reprinting and reprint editions.
- publishing authors’ own editions
- print on demand
- presenting old print material
- fixing poor-quality PDFs
