After a long time the town of Tatabánya has again become the venue of the assembly. The town has held an advantageous position in digital development for years, and the heads of the local libraries also paid special attention to introducing modern technologies. Thanks to this, Tatabánya could once again deservedly be the Centre of Librarians.

Digital libraries - forward-looking trends

At the start of the assembly the participants attended an opening ceremony, where presentations and reports by local and national library directors, as well as IT professionals and other industry professionals, awaited the audience.

The outstanding significance of the event showed itself not only in the profession but also in the field of digitisation, since at the assembly librarians pointed to the role and importance of new technologies in the future of libraries.

It emerged at the event that digitisation already plays a prominent role in the everyday operation of libraries. Thus one of the main topics was the spread of online content. Thanks to the digital revolution, e-books significantly increase readership and give users easier access. The latest e-book platforms and reading devices were presented at the assembly, which help libraries to further develop the reading experience.

Digital content management and archiving were also a central topic at the event. Traditional libraries hold a great deal of physical documents and information, whose digitisation can ensure easier access and better archiving. The participants shared their experience of electronic data storage and online research possibilities.

We from Tripont Cultural Heritage Solutions also visited the event, as an exhibitor, and our specialist Dániel Bedő also gave a talk on the latest and most modern digitisation equipment and technologies. We presented our library software and automated systems, which simplify the everyday operation and services of libraries.

At the end of the event the participants gathered for an informal conversation to share their experience of digitisation with one another and to brainstorm about the future. The success of the assembly showed that digital developments and technologies are indispensable for the future of libraries.
