Digital Szeklerland Conference – DSZ 2022

This year Csíkszereda (Miercurea Ciuc) hosted Transylvania’s outstanding professional forum and meeting, the Digital Szeklerland Conference. The travelling conference – which has previously visited Árkos, Tusnádfürdő, Bálványos, Szováta, Sepsiszentgyörgy, Székelyudvarhely and Marosvásárhely as well – creates a communication and development platform for participants and speakers. The organisers set as the main goals of the event the mapping of the region’s IT and digital sector and of the development of the digital sector, and the promotion of its innovation.

At this year’s event, held for the eighth time, Tripont’s cultural heritage team also took part. Dániel Bedő, digitisation specialist, gave a talk titled “IT and science for the arts”. He presented the Phase One reprographic camera developed for flat-object digitisation, with which we can produce digital reproductions of flat objects, transparent materials and 3D captures; and also a technology unique in the Central European region, the multispectral camera system.

With this system, by using light sources shining at different wavelengths and suitable filters, information invisible to the human eye can be displayed on digital images. The technology is completely non-destructive and can be used for layer analysis and authentication purposes in art history and even in the criminal field.
Every year people with significant professional knowledge are invited, but the conference is also a place of meetings and communication, so presentations by professionals and companies whose examples and ideas can easily help businesses to think further also had a place. The professional meeting ended successfully; over the three days of the event nearly 70 experts in total gave presentations and several hundred people visited the venue. Seeing the success of the Digital Szeklerland Conference, it will be held again next year.
