This spring the digitisation specialist training of MOME OPEN and Tripont, DigiArchiv, started for the first time. The aim of the training is to familiarise the interested professional audience with the latest technology and the most modern digitisation solutions. The teaching was delivered, on behalf of MOME Open, by Ábel Szalontai and István Oravecz; from Tripont by the Phase One specialist Dániel Bedő; from the National Széchényi Library by the head of the Digitisation Department, Barnabás Manó Kukár; and by Benjamin Kuti, who works in the Digitisation and Photo Department of the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest and specialises in 3D digitisation.

In the past 5 years Tripont has gained significant experience in heritage digitisation, and it wanted to pass this expertise on to the students. A significant share of those who completed the course came from Hungarian public institutions. During the four-month training the participants got to know the basics of heritage digitisation. They could learn the professional digitisation of different types of documents and objects. The curriculum meant the transfer of both practical and theoretical knowledge. The equipment not only meets the strictest international museum-technology standards but in countless cases exceeds them.

The expertise acquired on the course is specialised; the wave of digitisation of recent years and the Public Collection Digitisation Strategy (KDS) made digitisation specialist training necessary. In public collection digitisation, besides preservation considerations, the aim is to publish public treasures in adequate quality.
During the joint MOME Open–Tripont training the participants learned to use the automatic book scanner, the ScanRobot. They could gain in-depth knowledge of the Danish camera system developed for flat-object digitisation, Phase One, and of the related multispectral examinations. In multispectral examinations even invisible, scraped-off and overwritten text becomes visible. The procedure can be used for authentication examinations, for forensic examinations in criminal investigations, etc.

After successfully completing the final assignments, the participants received a certificate at the end of the four-month training.
