Capturing the “Yoldi-Moldenhauer” Stradivari Violin
The German publisher Darling Publications specialises in publishing special books and albums on contemporary arts and musical instruments. In 2013, in cooperation with Phase One, the Danish company that manufactures the most advanced photographic digital backs, they set about digitising a unique violin of outstanding value that had been unknown to the general public until then.
The instrument, which is insured for 15 million dollars, had never been photographed before and had never been presented to the public.
The Danish photographer Søren Jonesen had the honour of capturing in digital photographs the “Yoldi-Moldenhauer” Stradivari violin, built in 1714. It was an excellent “vintage” in the history of Stradivari instruments: Yehudi Menuhin and Jascha Heifetz also played violins dating from this year.
